    All applicants are required to audition. All those auditioning for admission into the School of Arts are held to the same standard of excellence, independent of their chosen degree plan. The auditions are facilitated and adjudicated by the Schools of Performing Arts faculty. This audition for admission into the School of the Arts typically three hours.

    Please come to your audition prepared with the following:
    • Acting-BFA students will prepare two contrasting monologues of no more than two minutes each.
    • Musical Theatre-BFA students will prepare a one-minute contemporary monologue and two 32-bar cut musical selections showing range. Applicants must provide their own sheet music. Please check your email regarding information on the dance call portion of the audition.
    • Performance-BA students will prepare a one-minute contemporary monologue and two 32-bar cut musical selections showing range. Applicants must provide their own sheet music. Please check your email regarding information on the dance call portion of the audition.
    • Production and Design-BA and Theatre Studies-BA students should contact Joe Zumbo, Recruitment Coordinator for the School of the Arts, at jzumbo@dean.edu for additional information on appropriate materials for developing a portfolio or writing supplement for consideration.
    • A headshot (snapshot quality is fine)
    • A theatre resume detailing your study objective, your schooling, and your last four years of training. Please keep this to one page.

    You will not receive your audition results on your audition day. The Schools of Performing Arts faculty will provide your evaluation to our Admissions office, where it will be reviewed along with other required application materials.
