All applicants are required to audition in person on one of the official dates. All those auditioning for admission into the School of Arts are held to the same standard of excellence, independent of their chosen degree plan. The auditions are facilitated and adjudicated by the School of Arts faculty. This audition for admission into the School of the Arts typically lasts two to three hours.

Please come to your audition prepared with the following:
    • Acting students will prepare two contrasting monologues of no more than two minutes each.
    • Musical Theatre students will prepare a two minute monologue and one musical selection showing range of no more than two minutes. Applicants should provide their own sheet music.
    • Production and Design and Theatre Studies students should contact the Joe Zumbo, Recruitment Coordinator for the School of the Arts, at 508-541-1541 for additional information on appropriate materials for developing a portfolio or writing supplement for consideration.
    • A headshot (snapshot quality is fine).
    • A theatre resume detailing your study objective, your schooling and your last four years of training.

You will not receive your audition results on your audition day. The School of Arts faculty will provide your evaluation to our Admissions office, where it will be reviewed along with other required application materials.

*For those that live outside of the New England region, or for those who are not able to make it to an on-campus audition, we do also offer a video audition option. Please contact Joe Zumbo at jzumbo@dean.edu for more details.
